The ADAMED SmartUP Roadshow is on!
24 October 2016
How to make plastic from milk? What are alginate balls used for? What is “Blue Bottle” biochemistry? This and far more is what students of schools located in the south of Poland will learn at the meetings with students of the Silesian University of Technology as part of this year’s edition of the ADAMED SmartUP Roadshow in October and November.
At such meetings, the students of schools located in the south of Poland will watch a scientific presentation aimed at explaining to them e.g. how to create plastic from completely natural materials at home, and to provide them with the basics of molecular gastronomy. The university students will also conduct an experiment called “Blue bottle” and a microbiological culture tutorial (bacteria culture) and every participant will receive a plate with a growth medium and a bacteria spreader (a special spatula to be used in this experiment). The meetings will be held on:

The BioBus Visit, i.e. the Students’ Scientific Society of Biotechnology at the Silesian University of Technology, will take place as part of the Roadshow – a cycle of meetings with secondary school students. “The Roadshow aims to encourage young people to study exact and natural sciences and to try their hand in the 3rd edition of the ADAMED SmartUP programme, a unique project on the Polish map of education which provides support to the gifted youth,”explains Anna Kosińska, the ADAMED SmartUP Manager.
In the period between 25 October and 22 November, the students will visit schools located in the provinces of southern Poland.
This year’s roadshow is the second event of this type organised as part of the ADAMED SmartUP. The first Roadshow – to encourage youth to participate in the 1st edition of the programme – visited the 20 best schools from 18 Polish cities and towns.
