Is milk casein bigger than egg ovalbumin? How is the famous double helix built? ADAMED SmartUP Academy participants will together attempt to answer these questions and more. The Academy is a series of free physical and natural science workshops for young people aged 15-19. They are organised together with the Centre for Innovative Bioscience Education in Warsaw. The first lessons will take place on 27th February!

The ADAMED SmartUP Academy courses are a chance for young people to conduct complex experiments by themselves, solve scientific puzzles together, and to meet people with similar interests and passions.

Practice makes perfect

The participants will be able to use a professional laboratory, under supervision from the instructors, in order to, for example, isolate proteins from various tissues and slides, such as: fish muscle, salad leaves, cow’s milk, chicken egg yolk and white and E.coli bacteria, “producing” various proteins on an industrial scale. During another class, they will conduct an experiment in which they examine how stimulants impair the process of cellular respiration in mammal cell lines.

The ADAMED SmartUP Academy is designed to enable young people to talk with experts and share experiences with peers. In our experience, this is often the first time pupils have the chance to work with laboratory equipment and conduct experiments on their own – says Anna Kosińska, head of the ADAMED SmartUP Programme.
