A school trip to the Institute of Nuclear Research, a spatiotemporal tunnel in an shut-down reactor, a meeting with Stanisław Lem and scientists from different time periods, engaging tasks, puzzles and challenging analyses are what awaits the players of the recruitment game which is the first stage of the latest edition of the ADAMED SmartUP programme. The game started on 1 October and will last until 15 January. You can still register to play.

The game marks the beginning of the recruitment process in the 8th edition of the ADAMED SmartUP programme. Players receive points for solving puzzles and the ones who score the highest will be asked to fill out application forms. Following their thorough examination, the Science Board of the programme will invite short-listed candidates for interviews.

50 people with the best results in the game and in the interview will take part in a two week-long science camp next summer. 10 best participants of the camp will receive the main award, i.e. a customized programme of educational consultations. After a year, three of them will receive a scientific scholarship.

“We encourage all students who are interested in exact and life sciences to take part in the ADAMED SmartUP programme. Just as in previous years, the recruitment game is intended to verify the contestants’ critical thinking skills and the ability to associate facts. It is not a typical test of encyclopedic knowledge,” says Martyna Strupczewska of Adamed Foundation.

The developers of the game have also created an engaging plot and attractive visual effects. Players take part in a school trip to the Institute of Nuclear Research, where they discover that a spatiotemporal tunnel was created in a nuclear reactor shut down in 1995. This allows them to talk first to Stanisław Lem and then to five other scholars from different time periods.

“The game is more than an intellectual challenge. We also want it to be highly entertaining. It is all about learning in an innovative way while having fun,” adds Martyna Strupczewska.
