Three cities, three universities and over 60 hours of discovering the arcana of natural sciences. The autumn edition of the ADAMED SmartUP Academy workshops has come to an end. The in-person workshops were conducted at the Catholic University of Lublin, Jagiellonian University Medical College and Warsaw University of Technology. The latest edition of the project attracted almost 170 young science enthusiasts.

Since 2015, the Adamed Foundation, in collaboration with the most important academic centers in Poland, has been organizing free-of-charge workshops for teenagers aged 14–19 who are fascinated with exact and natural sciences. Over the 7-year period, these workshops have been attended by nearly 1,800 students. This time, the classes were conducted not only at the Faculties of Physics and Chemistry of Warsaw University of Technology, but also at the Institute of Biological Sciences of the Catholic University of Lublin and Faculty of Pharmacy of the Jagiellonian University.

The participants of the 18 weekend workshops spent a total of 65 hours gaining fascinating knowledge and carrying out experiments on their own under the supervision of science experts. They had an opportunity to find out how antibodies can serve humanity, observe inflammation under the microscope, create their own hologram or isolate DNA.

The participants appreciated the warm welcome and involvement of the lecturers and the possibility to broaden the knowledge gained at school by performing experiments on their own. Working with lab equipment is always a real treat for young scientists!”, says Martyna Strupczewska, Head of the ADAMED SmartUP Program.
