The first stage of the recruitment to the 9th edition of the ADAMED SmartUP Scholarship Program was concluded in mid-January. Over nine thousand teenage enthusiasts of science have tried their hand at the game. The best players will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment process –interviews with the program’s commission.

This year, the plot of the game was based on a simulated evacuation of the human population to Mars. Artificial intelligence (AI) was the guide that took the participants into the future. The task for the participants was to pick 5 items or technologies that would help restore life on the new planet. Some players did a really good job with this task and achieved outstanding results.

The highest score reached in the game was 203. Almost 200 people can boast about the results of over 100 points. All players gathered a total of almost 2 thousand medals for completed tasks and nearly 60 thousand points!

“The game was about showing less of textbook-based knowledge but more of a skill of analysis, combining facts and drawing accurate conclusions,” underlined Martyna Strupczewska, Head of the ADAMED SmartUP Program. “We prepared diversified tasks from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, astronomy or medicine, and we hope that this competition was not only an intellectual challenge for the young science enthusiasts, but also a great deal of fun. We look forward to the live meetings with our candidates.”

The results are currently being verified, and soon the players with the highest scores in the game will receive a notification about a possibility to fill an online application on a special recruitment platform. In March, the Adamed Foundation will officially invite the most promising candidates to interviews. The top 50 participants will take part in the summer science camp.
