Registration is open for the spring edition of the ADAMED SmartUP Academy. Free-of-charge classes in physical and natural sciences will again be available to students aged 15-19 in April and May. This year, sessions will be held in four Polish cities, namely Cracow, Lodz, Rzeszow and Szczecin.

ADAMED SmartUP Academy is a series of innovative workshops focusing on such fields as biochemistry, physics, and medicine. They combine theory with practice in the form of laboratory sessions. Young people who are passionate about science will have a unique opportunity to acquire new skills. By taking part in biochemistry sessions they will find out what modern biotechnology focuses on, what effect GMOs have on the human being or how DNA material is isolated and cleaned. Students who attend medicine classes will have a chance to undergo training under the eye of doctors-practitioners who will talk about their everyday work and relations with patients, in addition to presenting surgical suture techniques as well as performing an autopsy of animals. Finally, physics enthusiasts will learn how to use it to protect the cultural heritage and elementary particles in the industry and medicine. The participants will also have a chance to see the world in the nanoscale and find out that the use of computers does not have to be limited to playing games.

ADAMED SmartUP Academy has been launched to reach young people across Poland and support their scientific education. We realize that laboratory sessions are not readily available to all young people who are interested in physical and natural sciences. It is our objective to provide them with an opportunity to test their practical skills in a natural scientific environment before they go to university, says Martyna Strupczewska, ADAMED SmartUP Programme Manager.

The schedule of this year’s edition of the all-Poland ADAMED SmartUP Academy workshops is as follows:

• RZESZÓW – BIOCHEMISTRY – 13-14 April
• LODZ – MEDICINE – 27-28 April
• CRACOW – PHYSICS – 11-12 May
• SZCZECIN – MEDICINE – 18-19 May

Participation in all the classes is free of charge and those interested in joining the programme may register by filling in the form available in the “Workshops” section on our website. The applicants should briefly state the reasons for their participation in this year’s edition of the ADAMED SmartUP Academy.
