To the computers—ready, steady, go! On October 1, the recruitment game for the 7^th edition of the ADAMED SmartUP Programme has started. Participating students will be faced therein with the important and difficult task of protecting our planet. Scientific puzzles that test knowledge and skills in the field of exact and natural sciences can be solved until January 15, 2021.

Environmental pollution, problems associated with the efficiency of recycling, and the disturbance of the biological balance in the Baltic Sea—these are just some of the challenges that students will have to tackle. In this year’s edition of the online game, which annually begins the recruitment process for the consecutive edition of our scholarship programme in autumn, they will become interns at the ADAMED SmartUP Institute. To succeed, registered users will have to demonstrate the ability to proficiently analyse the available data and to connect facts to conclusions.

“For years, we have been doing our best to ensure that our game had not only been a test of the background knowledge but also had given players an opportunity to prove their scientific thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Every year, we also make every effort to perfect the audio-visual and storyline features of the game. We want it not only to be an intellectual challenge but also to allow players to joyfully spend their free time. This year’s theme is environmental protection. We encourage all teenagers to try their best in our game with the view to not only scoring points but also checking out this innovative form of learning and self-development,” says Martyna Strupczewska, the ADAMED SmartUP Programme Manager.

Registration on the recruitment platform and participation in the game are the first steps on the path to securing a place at next year’s ADAMED SmartUP science camp. Proceeding will depend on the score achieved throughout the gameplay. For solving each of the storyline tasks, players will be awarded points, and those scoring  highest will be asked to complete an application form. On its basis, the Scientific Council of the programme will invite particular students for interviews, whose results will eventually decide on the selection of 50 participants of the summer science camp in 2021. Then, 10 campers will receive the title of laureate that comes with the main prize of the programme, and ultimately, after a year, 3 of them will be granted a financial scholarship.

The recruitment process is open to all high schoolers, aged 14 to 19  and coming from all over Poland. We encourage all science-driven students to try their best in our game and to start their scientific adventure with ADAMED SmartUP!
